Astronomer Sues Kentucky University

The recent article in the Minot Daily section of Religion brings up the perennial bogey of science v religion. Martin Gaskell claimed he was discriminated against because he was a Christian. He sued the university and settled for $125,000. Lets get a couple things clear. Kentucky is where the Answers in Genesis Creation Museum is located and the planned Noah theme park. The Creation Museum discriminates on who it hires based on beliefs and so will the Noah theme park. Gaskell claims to be a theistic evolutionist. There was another astronomer who was featured in the Ben Stien movie Expelled that he was discriminated against. He was a creationist literalistic and believed the universe is only 6,000 years old. Several of the Fellows of the Discovery Institute have PhD's in science subjects. There seems to be a general strategy among the fundamentalist religious folks to get degrees in science subjects and then invoke the victim card in that they are being discriminated against. Their hope is to infiltrate universities and change science to their religious views and ignore facts, ie. evidence. This is happening in medical schools with the integrative medicine movement now firmly entrenched in schools like Harvard, Yale etc. They, the integrative medicine folks, also invoke the victim card and discrimination card. First in this country science, atheists, agnostics, skeptics are the real minorities. They are the ones who are discriminated against in jobs, case in point the creation museum hiring practices. Baloney seems to be mainstream, look at Oprah, Arianna Huffington, Fox news etc. It is an old strategy to invoke minority status and discrimination and then be hypocritical about the reality, ie they the Oprah, Huffingtons, Fox, Creation Museum and I will throw in the Muslims, then want only their ideology, taught in schools, preached in houses of worship and the like. There is a general pattern emerging here should we not look at the whole. This bodes ill for this country and the world. As competing ideological frames cannot coexist especially if their whole basis is non evidence, non fact based flights of delusions.
