Flood Watch Over?

The good news is that on Thursday the river has hit its highest crest and is now on the way to normal levels. The Corps of Engineers, National Guard, Red Cross, Sheriff Dept, Police and volunteers did a job well done. Some ask or made comments on how all of this was a problem with getting people out of their homes and blocking off large chunks of the city with dyke's when nothing occurred. To those we must be thankful, yes thankful but not to a deity, that the flooding was not worse. How can anyone predict what the river will do. The city and state did the right thing in assuming the worse and taking action accordingly. What would of happened if the city and state did nothing and the river flooded large numbers of homes, businesses and people were killed? No I say better safe than sorry and that is what they did. It will take time for the river to go back down and more rains may change the situation again, but I think we have seen the worse of it. Very little problems occurred with flooding except for the train derailment up on trestle hill and two sociopath trying to take advantage of empty home to loot by canoe. They were not caught, yet, but were sighted and chased away. I think the whole situation points up human behavior nicely. There will always be those to try and take advantage of other peoples problems. There are those that will not be happy even if hung with a new rope.
