Merry Christmas to all. This should be a time of peace and reflection. A time for children and a time for the small things that mean so much. But, with extreme relgious views around the world threatening people with the ridiculous. For example the extreme muslims killing and burning alive Christians in Pakistan. The shiite religious group that controls Iran. The child in Brazil that had needles inserted into him for vengenous and other stupid ideas. The Ugandan govenment passing laws that threaten homosexuals and banning condoms. Semi relgious view of new age practitioners, alternaive medicine practitioners recommending useless, at the best, and dangerous treatments at the worst. Anti-vaxers telling moms not to vaccinate their children. So called christians extolling the virtues of making money over helping those who cannot and preaching it in churches as part of the new wave of christian fundamentalism. The denialists of global warming that purposefully ignore data and who basic reason is it may intrude on their profits. Indeed with all that which is advanced and propagated by people that engage in little critical thought and reflection, I still regard this season as one of the best and still gives me hope that maybe, just maybe reason, compassion and dare I say it love will win out in the end. Merry Christmas to one and all.
