Parents Go to Prison for Faith Healing

Out of AP Oregon; a couple Tuesday were found guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the death of their son. They were praying over him when he had obstructed urinary tract. Jeff and Marci Beagley belong to the Followers of Christ Church. The church doesn't believe, obviously, in medical care, but instead pray for sick people. If you want to do it for yourself, but for children, who don't have the cognition to seek out medical care is just plan wrong. They are scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 18 and because of prior conviction can recieve 16 to 18 month prison sentence. An unusual number of children have died because of this church. This has lead to Oregan to a law that limits faith healing. Good, maybe other states should follow that example. But as I suspect the religious will cry foul because it interfers with their right to religion and belief. If praying worked that would be one thing, but it doesn't. That has even been tested in the recent past and shown that praying does no good. But, evidence has little effect on "true" believers, how about true delusionals. Having APLS, Advance Prayer Life Support, is as useless has homeopathy, crystals, magnets, acupuncture, chiropractic and need I go on. Go to todays paper to get the full story.

These stories are always so sad! It breaks my heart and sickens me. It makes me angry that such people only get one or two year prison sentences. This is plain old murder!
