My Rant!

You ever wonder what is going on? I often do. I just finished seeing on CNN a Islamic fundamentalist praising sharia law and state that people see democracy doesn't work, nor does capitalism and that is why in his view islamist will win. I saw that the ND legislature is going to vote on a bill requiring abstinence education in public schools, even though it has been shown not to work. I see the Republicans, especially the Tea Party ones push for a more Christain nation and more anti evolution vocalisms. This seems weird to me that they push for survival of the fittest capitalism, but deny evolution. I see there is a group of Christian fundamentalists saying that the world is going to end sometime in May. The leader of that group made a prediction in the late 20th century the same thing and was wrong. Integrative medicine is gaining ground in all our medical schools. More bs like balance bracelets are being sold on TV and in malls, even though they have been proven scams. The anti-vaxers had the wind taken out of their sails by the disgrace of Andrew Wakefield being proven in the BMJ a fraud thanks to Brian Deer, but they still expound their lies and not saying that they were wrong just as Jenny McCarthy said recently on a daytime talk show. A nut shoots and kills several people and almost kills a U.S. Congresswoman in Tucson Arizona, and no one is talking about maybe some type of controls on it. Is it just me or does anyone else see the hypocrisy, the craziness of what is going on? The ones that don't want free speech are using free speech to push their agenda. But the limits on our rights are ever being eroded away at say airports with see through scanners and the like. Is there anyone out there that can also see the idiocy of it all? It seems rationality it loosing the to the craziness because it has more money to spend and political power, ie. they give money to the politicians. Case in point the drive in Kentucky to have a Noah's Ark theme park paid for by the taxpayers. I see a real problem with separation of church and state here, but the Governor of that state doesn't. Is he a Republican Christian theocrat or just someone who will do anything for the money. It seems that the thing that is being lost is integrity in favor of the all mighty dollar. And the kooks, religious nuts etc have the money to burn given to them by brain dead regular Joes. Does anyone, anyone else see it, or am I crazy too?

Hi, I'm not sure if my last comment went through or not. I'm a grad student at the University of Nebraska and I'm conducting disseration research on seculars in the Midwest and societal stigma. I was hoping someone on this site would be willing to distribut my web survey to skeptics/atheists/humanists in the Minot area or North Dakota in general. Let me know if you're interested in contributing to this research.
